• Higher rates of obesity among patients with mental illness might be, in part, the result of resistance to leptin; higher levels of circulating cortisol and ghrelin; and dopaminergic deficits.
• Of different options of talk therapy to improve obesity outcomes, CBT and motivational interviewing have the best record of efficacy.
